Hello again! I finally recovered from the flu and I made it to class on Tuesday. Our Tuesday lecture contains on two speakers on different companies. Our first speaker was the marketing manager of Superpark, Eija Gerlander. She told us about the company's history and the plans for the future. She tolds us about the companies perspective on marketing. It's very interesting to hear how real companies do work and get influence how to do or not do to.

Superpark is a indoor activity park for all-ages. Everyone can experience many fun activities such as climbing or skating. Superpark doesn't have any motorised equipment which is fascinating our technology world. I think it's good that they get people moving around and having fun with each other. It reminds me of the good old days when we just played around and not think about all the devices we can play with.
Our first task is to do marketing video for Superpark. We have to think company's best interest and make a great video. No pressure. We have to think outside of the box and how can we get today's youngster know about this company. I think it's so exciting to do real work and maybe build a network for ourself. You'll never know what leads from this.
Our second speaker was from SSM (Suomen Suoramarkkinointi), Juha Pakkari. SSM is direct advertising company which co-oparate's with many magazines. Pakkari talk about the company and how he do business and want to live a life. He gave example of Simon Sinek's thinking - start with a why. Why you do what you do? What your beliefs or purpose behind it? Juha Pakkari his purpose in life is being happy which everyone is sourcing. I don't care what are you thinking about. Purpose your action you thought it'll bring you happiness some kind a way. Someone happiness is being rich and someone being famous and beautiful.

Other hand SSM company's purpose doing what they do is creating value for the customer. So we got assignment to do think about how we can great more value for company and there customers and making their more known.
On Thursday I went again the awesome Toast Talk event and if you hadn't read my previous post the event is combination breakfest and great a great speaker. Awesome right? So they were talking about internship program - Startup life. Program sends finnish universities students work at San fransisco for startup companies. Students will learn to work fast-paced environment.
The main speaker was Karri Kurunmäki who told his experience for doing this program. He told us what he got from it for instance he learned how to pitch and sale, and also you never know what a day brings you. Kurunmäki got many oppurtunities to pitch and talk with the greats business leaders. He said in USA they're are kind a big family and no one are looking down on you. It think this is the right attidute and thats how you get results. No one wants to work from fear and anxiety.

I think Kurunmäki was excellent speaker and he got me thinking applying sending application for the program. He was that good considering I never had thought or hear about this it'll says it all.
On the same day we had our second lecture of the week and we were talking about culture. Our teacher Anna Ikonen told us few examples how to communicate in a world of diversity. People are so different. In a own country and around a world. We have our own norms, beliefs and how we behave. A few years ago I got chance to go EF language course to Florida. I got chance to life 4 weeks with a host family i learned a lot. I became more adult and i couldn't to whatever I wanted to do. I remember one time when my host mom asked me "why are you always so quiet are you mad at me?" and I said "No, we finns don't talk too much." She couldn't understand the fact simply being silent. I love her but I got to admit she talked too much. The trip made me want to live somewhere abroad. I would absolutely love it!

- Cheers xoxo
